Amanda Holden goes Hoff on one

Holden tight, Amanda ... BGT judge arrives on a motorbike to work

BRITAIN'S Got Talent star Amanda Holden threw an almighty strop after David Hasselhoff bagged a bigger dressing room.

Mandy was livid that The Hoff had so much space and told producers she wanted him out because she was the show's main star - after Simon Cowell of course.
But she was out of luck because The Hoff had already scattered his designer suits all over the room at Fountain Studios, Wembley, North London. A source said: "Amanda was livid. She figured that as 'head judge' she should have the bigger room. But because he'd already moved himself in, she was told to make do with one set aside for her.
"She wasn't having it though and decided to pinch Michael McIntyre's before he turned up."
Amanda was the self-appointed head judge when Simon bowed out of the audition rounds to concentrate on the US X Factor.
Of course Simon has the biggest BGT dressing room.
And he returned on Monday and reasserted his position by coming on stage to music from Superman.

Top ten is a Brit lacking

Smash hit ... but Adele is the exception
Smash hit ... but Adele is the exception

WHILE ADELE continues to smash sales records, the rest of the British music business is in dire straits.

Last week, home-grown talent suffered its worst showing in the Top Ten singles in the six decades since the pop chart began.
The only UK act to feature there was LAUREN BENNETT - who is guest vocalist on LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem.
Grim.
And while there have been occasions in the past when only one of the Top Ten tracks has been by a home-grown artist, this was the first time a featured artist provided the sole British presence.
THE SATURDAYS ensured this week's chart had more UK representation when their single Notorious entered at No8.

Rockers ... LMFAO

But it's never been worse for UK acts in the weekly chart, which was launched in November 1952.
The dire statistic is in stark contrast to other evidence that shows UK talent can still battle it out with the best.
Two of the three biggest-selling tracks of the year are by Brit stars - Adele's Someone Like You and JESSIE J's Price Tag.

Mum-of-one Coleen retorted: "Just seen ur profile pic!! dog." Another user called DrPeterVenkman1 asked Coleen: "Did you call her a dog? She's hardly a dog love."
Coleen - who has 181,000 followers - lashed out: "Weren't talking to you!"
Trickehvickeh, thought to be Vicky Morgan from Wales, has previously written on Wayne's page about him cheating with a "prozzie".

She replied to Coleen's "dog" taunt: "Well yu look like a rat."

Last night, a pal defended Coleen for hitting back, saying: "Coleen shouldn't have to take abuse. She's just standing up for herself and Wayne."

HELEN Flanagan - Corrie's Rosie Webster - struggles to get to see her boyfriend Scott Sinclair score a hat-trick.

Helen, who turned her brunette locks blonde recently, was at Wembley for Monday's Championship play-off final.
She left her seat and had a bit of trouble getting back in. But she got to see Scott's Swansea beat Reading 4-2.

ARSENAL stars ROBIN VAN PERSIE and CESC FABREGAS have jetted off on a lads' holiday.

They decided against going to the regular stag do favourites of Riga, Prague or Bratislava in favour of a beano to New York.
Bet the beer isn't as good. During their trip to the Big Apple they watched former team-mate THIERRY HENRY in action for the New York Red Bulls.

Daleks axed after 48 years

Gone but not forgotten ... Daleks
Gone but not forgotten ... Daleks

AFTER 48 years the Daleks have been banished from TV, as we told you yesterday.

Their demise was welcomed by the Cybermen, who said: "Their time had come. They looked old and tired with their toilet plunger parts and primitive casing."

Here, Doctor Who Appreciation Society stalwart Antony Wainer pays tribute to the Daleks - and tells DAVID LOWE why it's still not safe to come out from behind the sofa.

Timeline

1963: History is made on December 21 as the Daleks make their bow in The Dead Planet
1967: Bad news for Daleks as they are wiped out in a civil war and don't return to TV until 1972
1975: We meet Davros, in Genesis Of The Daleks, and learn the origins of the evil mutant race
1988: We're all in trouble. The Doctor's arch enemies master the art of climbing stairs
1999: Stamps starring the Daleks are put out to celebrate British culture
2005: Doctor Who is back on TV after a 16-year gap. And guess who's there to battle him? Yep, the Daleks
2007: BBC poll puts Daleks top of a Who scary monsters list. The Cybermen would be outraged, if they had emotions
2008: A survey finds only 53 per cent of kids able to identify an oak leaf . . . 90 per cent identify a Dalek
2010: Time for an upgrade with the creation of a superior (and prettily coloured) version

DOCTOR Who without Daleks would be like Wimbledon minus the strawberries and cream.
The two are so entwined they are virtually inseparable.
For that reason, I don't think the Daleks will be gone from our screens for long - whatever they're saying now.
Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat only said Daleks were being given "a rest" so he hasn't confirmed their permanent removal from the series.
That would be a travesty to fans, who consistently vote the Daleks as their favourite baddie. Since their first appearance in 1963 they have captured the public's imagination.
I think it's partially due to the fact they are so easy to imitate.
In playgrounds kids amuse themselves putting on the Dalek voice and copying the way they move along the ground.
Looking back over the Daleks' history in Doctor Who there have been several periods when they have disappeared from our screens for a break.
The most notable one was between The Evil Of The Daleks in 1967 and Day Of The Daleks in 1972, a gap of almost five years.
Doctor Who's scriptwriters know the Daleks and the Doctor are like Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty or Batman and the Riddler - great fictional rivals whose battles enthral fans.
In 2005, when Doctor Who was making a return after ending in 1989, there was a lot of talk about whether the Daleks would be brought back.

Debut ... in December 1963
Debut ... in December 1963
It was a new series with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor and potentially a good opportunity to do away with them after the 16-year gap.
Initially it was thought Daleks would not appear due to a rights issue with the estate of their creator Terry Nation.

Behind you ... 1965 movie
Behind you ... 1965 movie
But then there was a change of heart and the Daleks' return was confirmed.
All the same, they shouldn't be included just for the sake of it and if the show's bosses think the time is right for them to be briefly retired, so be it.

Obey ... in 1966 movie sequel

My favourite Dalek serial was Genesis Of The Daleks in 1975, when Tom Baker was the Doctor. The story went back to their creation on planet Skaro by evil scientist Davros.
There was another 12-part serial in 1965 called The Daleks' Master Plan.

Baker days ... Tom and Davros
Baker days ... Tom and Davros
That was of epic proportions and no doubt consolidated their popularity.
Now Daleks are synonymous with Doctor Who.

Stair masters ... levitating

They appear on merchandise from tea towels and slippers to pens and models.
There is even a company called This Planet Earth who make life-sized Daleks for sale to avid collectors, costing around £3,000 each.

When you think people are willing to spend that kind of money on their own Dalek it shows what a massive following they have.
I'll be sad to see them go - but I still suspect they aren't gone for good.

Simon Cowell: I love the joke on Cheryl Cole

Show boss ... Simon Cowell

HEARTLESS Simon Cowell congratulated Ant and Dec for their gag about fellow Geordie Cheryl Cole's voice on BGT.

The duo had feared he would be miffed after they jokingly asked him if he could understand THEIR accents too.
Chezza's Newcastle burr was said to be a factor in her being axed in the US.
But Simon told Ant and Dec he was glad they sneaked the joke in on Monday's show.
A BGT source said: "Everyone laughed - it was proper gallows humour. When the lads bumped into Simon they thought he would tick them off.
"But he said he loved it. He's so fed up of her ignoring him he's happy to let her have the p*** taken out of her on TV."
Meanwhile crew on the show were banned from even mentioning Cheryl.
Even warm-up man Ian Royce - who always ribs Cowell off air - had to button it for fear of angering the multi-millionaire.
He said: "I wanted to keep my job."
Simon has likened the spat with Cheryl to "losing a lover".

Russell Rocks the retro look

PLAYING an eighties rocker in his new movie Rock Of Ages meant a complete makeover for ALEC BALDWIN.

RUSSELL BRAND, on the other hand, changed his jacket.
The pair's period look was seen for the first time in a picture posted by the Brit comic on his Twitter.
And he commented: "Now this has happened with me and @alec_baldwin does reality even matter?"
Alec donned a blonde wig and rose-tinted glasses, teamed with a fetching denim waistcoat, to play nightclub owner Dennis Dupree.
But Russ's retro rock vibe fits perfectly with the movie already, so all he needed was a brown suede waistcoat and a yellow vest top.
He added a giant lollipop which he obviously borrowed from one of missus KATY PERRY'S video sets.
The 35-year-old Essex boy is going big guns in Hollywood.
He plays the narrator in the musical and other stars include TOM CRUISE, as big name rock star Stacee Jaxx, CATHERIN ZETA JONES, PAUL GIAMATTI and singer MARY J.BLIGE.
Director ADAM SHANKMAN is getting on famously with his stellar cast.
He tweeted the same picture with the words: "First look! World premiere! Russell and Alec making my life heaven on #rockofagesmovie."

JESSIE J is having trouble getting to grips with her new top-of-the-range Mercedes SLK.

The £44,000 convertible was a thank-you gift from her record company for filling their coffers.
It's a huge change from the Ford Ka she drove before making it big.
She said: "I gave my Ka to my dad. I've now got a brand new Mercedes SLK, but the only thing is I can't drive it. My Ka was like a go-kart, but with this I'm a mess. I don't know how to use the radio.
"I try to indicate and I spray water at people and I'm not a fan of the heated seat because it feels like you've wet yourself."
The singer has just announced a 12-date UK tour kicking off in Birmingham on October 17.
She'd be better off driving round the country in The Inbetweeners' yellow Cinquecento.
