Smash hit ... but Adele is the exception
WHILE ADELE continues to smash sales records, the rest of the British music business is in dire straits.
Last week, home-grown talent suffered its worst showing in the Top Ten singles in the six decades since the pop chart began. The only UK act to feature there was LAUREN BENNETT - who is guest vocalist on LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem.
Grim.
And while there have been occasions in the past when only one of the Top Ten tracks has been by a home-grown artist, this was the first time a featured artist provided the sole British presence.
THE SATURDAYS ensured this week's chart had more UK representation when their single Notorious entered at No8.

Rockers ... LMFAO
The dire statistic is in stark contrast to other evidence that shows UK talent can still battle it out with the best.
Two of the three biggest-selling tracks of the year are by Brit stars - Adele's Someone Like You and JESSIE J's Price Tag.
