Miguel Carmelo

Dr. Miguel Carmelo is president of Laureate’s Mediterranean Region and president of the Universidad Europea de Madrid. In the former role, he is leading Laureate’s expansion throughout the Mediterranean Region, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. He is also responsible for the development of the unique partnership between Laureate International Universities and Real Madrid.
Before joining Laureate, Dr. Carmelo was chairman of Unilever Spain. He previously served as European division director and vice president of marketing and sales for Unilever.
Dr. Carmelo earned degrees in economics and business administration at Universidad Complutense and his Ph.D. in economics from Universidad Autonoma.
