Division Vice President, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Innovations Officer

As division vice president, chief information officer, and chief innovations officer, Jorge Elguera leads the Laureate Information Technology team, integrating and scaling Laureate’s global business platforms across institutions, regions, and corporate groups.

Mr. Elguera, has more than 16 years of experience with delivering and managing customer-centered, innovative technology, initiating process improvement services, and leading global IT operations in several large Fortune 500 organizations. He served as chief information officer and innovations officer for the Laureate Higher Education Group, and in the spring of 2011 received the SmartCXO award from SmartCEO magazine in the SmartCIO/CTO category.

Prior to joining Laureate, Mr. Elguera served as VP for consulting services and support for Fuego Technologies, a Dallas-based provider of software and services for automation of business processes (acquired by Oracle Inc.) His experience in the software industry also includes Oracle Consulting, where, as a practice director, he worked with customers in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Mr. Elguera led the implementation of numerous large enterprise resource planning projects for global companies, including AT&T, Comcast Cable, Nextel, and Nextel International. He also led the Information Services group for Skytel Communications with responsibility for all its Latin America Operations.

Mr. Elguera holds an M.B.A. in global leadership from the University of Texas at Dallas and a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
