Former chief minister N Rangasamy who was forced to quit the Congress is ready for the electoral battle with his new party All India NR Congress.
PUDUCHERRY: Former chief minister N Rangasamy has said his party -the all India NR Congress is committed to secular principles and would strive hard for the balanced development of all four regions of Puducherry.
"My party is above all considerations of caste, religion or creed and will provide a corruption free, fair and transparent administration if voted to power in the coming assembly polls," he said at a well attended rally of his party here.
This is the first meeting held by any political party in the run up to the April 13 assembly polls.
Rangasamy was ousted from post of chief minister in August 2008 by AICC following a yearlong revolt then against his leadership by his erstwhile cabinet colleagues, including the present chief minister V Vaithilingam.
The present ministry came into being on September 4, 2008. Rangasamy had been keeping quiet and quit the post of MLA and primary membership of the party on January 20 and floated his party (All India NR Congress) under his presidentship).
Launching a scathing attack on the Vaithilingam led ministry for having 'failed' the people, particularly minorities, scheduled castes, unemployed and poorer sections, he demanded a judicial probe into alleged irregularities in housing projects for downtrodden.
He said the Special Component plan involving allocation of more than Rs 1000 crore under the budgetary sanctions and meant for amelioration of SCs had not been properly implemented by the ministry in the last two and half years
Rangasamy also demanded a judicial probe into all programmes, including allocation of contracts for construction of houses for the poor, purchase of garments for the free clothing scheme, working of various corporations and statutory bodies
He alleged that union minister V Narayanasamy, elected to Lok Sabha from here had not not done anything from funds available under MP Local Area Development for Puducherry.
He said his erstwhile cabinet colleagues had levelled baseless complaints against him to the AICC leader Sonia Gandhi when he was chief minister.
"It is a pity that AICC leader Sonia Gandhi does not intervene and cut to size the ministers, though the present government here is failing every section of people`.
Assuring people that he would revive 'Kamaraj rule' as during his tenure as chief minister (between 2001 and 2006 and for nearly three years since 2006) if his party was voted to power, he assured there would be balanced development of all four regions, job opportunities for youth and amelioration of well being of government staff.
