A man allegedly strangled his 20-year-old daughter, doused her body in kerosene and burnt it before burying her. He did this because he found her talking to her boyfriend on a cellphone. The boy has reportedly recorded Archna's screams on his cellphone.
The incident took place on May 7 at Kutri village and came to light only on Thursday when the girl's father, Ashok Singh, threatened to kill Suman Singh at his residence in Mularchak, a stone's throw from the police station, late on Wednesday. Suman reportedly told police he could not muster courage to lodge a complaint even almost a month after the incident.
Police said Archna, a BA second year student, was having an affair with classmate Suman Singh. Belonging to same caste, they wanted to marry, but the girl's father thought the boy's family was inferior. "If I could kill my own daughter, I won't spare you," Ashok Singh reportedly threatened the boy.
