BSP trying to suppress Ramdev's campaign: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here Monday accused Uttar Pradesh's ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of conniving with the Congress-led central government in suppressing yoga guru Baba Ramdev's anti-corruption campaign.

"We have come to know that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati denied permission to Ramdev for holding satyagrah in Noida. He (Ramdev) was stopped in Muzaffarnagar (in Uttar Pradesh) and was sent back to Uttarakhand at the behest of the chief minister," BJP state president Surya Pratap Shahi told reporters.

"The step taken by the state government clearly indicates that the BSP government is supporting the undemocratic Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) to thwart Ramdev's efforts to bring back to the country the black money stashed in foreign accounts," he alleged.

"On the one hand Mayawati condemned the action against Ramdev and his supporters terming it undemocratic, and on the other hand she herself denied permission to the yoga guru for holding satyagrah in Noida," said Shahi.

"We want to know what really prompted Mayawati to take anti-Ramdev stand when she herself was against the central government's crackdown on Ramdev," he added.
