North Dakota Man Sentenced for Selling Methamphetamine

FARGO—United States Attorney Timothy Q Purdon announced that on May 18, 2011, Jason Alberts, of St. Michael, North Dakota, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Ralph R Erickson on two charges of distribution of a controlled substance. Alberts, 25, pleaded guilty on February 15, 2011, to selling .56 grams of a mixture containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine in Devils Lake, North Dakota on January 25, 2010. Alberts also pleaded guilty to selling .38 grams of a mixture containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine on February 28, 2010 on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

Judge Erickson sentenced Alberts to four months’ incarceration with the United States Bureau of Prisons to be followed by three years of supervised release, with the first four months to be served at a residential re-entry center. Alberts was ordered to pay a $200 special assessment to the Crime Victim's Fund. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Devils Lake Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Janice M Morley prosecuted the case.
