RAWALPINDI: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) No 3 has issued contempt of court notice to DG FIA Malik Iqbal in Benazir Bhutto assassination case.
The court resumed the hearing of the case Saturday. FIA informed the court that investigation officer of this case Deputy Director Khalid Rasool had been changed and Shujja Naveed had been appointed new investigation officer.
FIA chief prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfiqar told the court that Khalid Rasool who is investigation officer in this case is also investigation officer in Hajj Corruption case, therefore, new investigation officer has been appointed due to preoccupation of Khalid Rasool.
The court while expressing displeasure over it inquired from FIA officers as to why investigation officers are being changed repeatedly and submission of final report in regard to compliance or non compliance of arrest warrants of Pervez Musharraf is being delayed.
Malik Rafiq counsel for police officers told the court I had already told Pervez Musharraf had remained chief of a powerful institution. FIA had included his name in challan but they are paying for it. On one hand they change the investigation officer and on other hand they seek more time for compliance of arrest warrants of Pervez Musharraf.
Malik Rafiq told the media men that the court realized that FIA was deliberately delaying the presentation of report with regard to compliance of arrest warrants in respect of Pervez Musharraf and the court had issued contempt of court notices to DG FIA on this count.
