| | | Peacefmonline.com sources at the NDC headquarters has revealed that Hi-life singer Lucky Mensah was nearly attacked by supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the party’s office at Kokomlemle in Accra, on Thursday May 5, 2011, when sitting President John Evans Atta Mills went to pick forms to contest for flagbearership position to lead the party ones again come 2012 .
The singer who released a song titled “Nkratuo” which seem to be ridiculing and playing down the governance of President Atta Mills said, he went to lend his support to Prof. Mills. Lucky who appeared all of a sudden from nowhere had to be whisked away by a well-built man and other party members into a black four wheel drive car, parked on the premises for his safety.
Peacefmonline.com spotted Lucky Mensah in a navy green shirt with a tie in NDC colours worn around his neck and a pair of Jeans pants. He looked very excited as he was mobbed by the supporters of the NDC whom he thought were very happy to see him. Little did he know that they were going to hid insults at him. He was not even allowed to see President Mills whom he came to support.
Lucky Mensah was one of the few musicians, who joined the NDC campaign prior to the 2008 elections, when he remixed his popular ‘Come Back To Me’ song for the then candidate Mills. Though Mr. Mensah did not come out to state the contractual agreement he had with NDC during the campaign period, after the election in 2009, Lucky Mensah came out to state that he was not paid for singing for Mills. As a result, disappointed Lucky had to travel out of the country with Nana Konadu allegedly paying for his air fare.
Lucky Mensah resurfaced and took the country by storm with a controversial hit song titled ‘Nkratuo’ which till date is enjoying massive airplay, probably, due to the lyrics of the song and the linkage with the sitting president.
Interestingly, Lucky Mensah who has admitted publicly to be a very close friend to the Rawlingses was not seen anywhere near Nana Konadu Agyaman Rawlings, when he went to pick her form to contest Atta Mill on Tuesday May 3, 2011 at the same party office, neither was he seen at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday May 4, 2011, when Nana Konadu launched his campaign. Peacefmonline.com cameras captured these images which shows what the musician went through.
