vtravelled Weekly Round-Up w/c 11th April
Another mixed bag of the inspirational, the weird and the wonderful from our own blog and our web travels over the last week…

Trendy Travels

Maybe it’s the (slight) change in the weather that’s made us start wishing for a new wardrobe as we’ve gone a bit style mad this week. We kicked off the week with a sports wear style tour of SoHo in New York before indulging in a spot of hat shopping in London and some very special boutique browsing in Washington DC.

Underwater Wellness

We’ve talked spas before and covered fitness breaks, but now we think we’ve found our ultimate wellness holiday activity: Scuba Yoga in Grenada. Meditational dives in crystal Caribbean waters? Sign us up.
If you prefer your exercise with your feet on the ground, don’t forget to check out our guide to the best places to run a marathon in 2011.

Hollywood Bowl(ing)

As The Cool Hunter points out, bowling alleys aren’t usually synonymous with chic, but The Spare Room at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel looks like the kind of place Mad Men’s Don Draper would happily hang out in on a West Coast jaunt. Certainly looks like the most stylish alley we’ve ever seen.

Hong Kong down low

Last week we reported on the opening of the Sky100 observation deck at Hong Kong’s ICC, but if you’re visiting soon don’t miss out on a very different kind of tower. The culmination of the Cheung Chau Bun Festival on May 10th features an exciting scramble up 60-foot bun towers at the Pak Tai Temple alongside lion dances, drum beating and a parade of stilt walking kids. Great traditional fun.

Coffee, Tea, or Me?

You may have heard about our own Sir Richard’s latest charity flight where he’ll be taking the role of a female attendant for AirAsia; the stunt came a result of a Formula 1 bet made with AirAsia boss Tony Fernandes. If you fancy splashing some cash in the name of charity and/or cross-dressing curiosity, booking is now open for the flight, which leaves London for Kuala Lumpur on May 1st.

Location, Location

Around Oscars time we did a round-up of our favourite film locations in the USA and UK. As an extra for the keen movie buff coming to London, we recommend this great selection of 10 of the city’s must-see locations over at Vagabondish.
And if you are in London this coming week, don’t forget to pick up some chocolates to impress from the one of the city’s master chocolatiers ahead of Easter next weekend.
