Ultimatum to Bhardwaj

BANGALORE: The confrontation between Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and Governor H.R. Bhardwaj has resurfaced, a day after the two met here and patched up their differences.
Following the non-receipt of reply to a Cabinet request for the second time under a week for convening an Assembly session, the Chief Minister on Thursday gave an ultimatum to the Governor to grant his approval on the file failing which he would launch a demonstration against him from Friday.
It is highly unlikely though that the Raj Bhavan will yield to the deadline set by the Chief Minister and thus the confrontation is set to escalate. For, a session convened by the Governor will obviously translate into a confirmation that the Yeddyurappa government has received due recognition and that the recommendation for President's rule is no longer under consideration.
After issuing the ultimatum, Mr. Yeddyurappa left on a pilgrimage for the Vaishnodevi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr. Bhardwaj, in reply to the Chief Minister's letter requesting him to convene a 10-day session, has urged him to wait for a day or two as he is yet to receive a reply from the Centre on his special report recommending President's rule.
