Sending a photo from a CD generally involves two processes. The first, though optional, is to copy the photo or picture from the storage media on to your computer's hard disk and the second is attaching the file to an email message. Let us go over these one by one. And by the way, these steps will work for any kind of "digital" file from a CD and not just a photo or a picture!

Copy picture / photo from CD to your computer

CDs (Compact Discs) are simply storage media in which you can save digital files like pictures, documents, songs, video etc. Though this step is optional, it's a good idea to keep a copy of the file you are about to send on your computer's hard disk. Following instructions have been worked out on a Windows based computer.
  • Insert the CD in the CD-drive of your computer.
  • Patiently wait for a small pop-up will be displayed (this can take a few seconds). You now need to take some action... typically, open Windows Explorer to view the contents of the CD. Windows Explorer is different from Internet Explorer; the latter is a web browser.
  • In the Windows Explorer program, move to the folder on the CD that has the photos.
  • Once you locate the photo, right click on it and select Copy (not Cut).
  • Go to the desktop of your computer, right-click and this time, select Paste.
  • The file will be copied from the CD onto your computer - the desktop.

Attach the photo from the CD to an email message

The exact steps of attaching a photo to a message depend on how you use email - via webmail or email program. Typically, you would create a new message, click on the Attach button/link, browse to the desktop and then double-click on the photo to have it sent along with the email. Please use the search feature on this web site (top of the page) to get detailed instructions on how to attach files to email.
Important note: Remember all email services are not the same. The attachment size limit varies from service to service. Though you may be able to send the large photo, the recipient's account might reject it. This typically happens if the attachment size crosses the specified limit.
You can try compressing/zipping the photo or using an image hosting service; read the tips on how to attach a large file to email. And if you cannot send an email with a large attachment - refer that article for help.
